To familiarize students with historical trends in psychology, major concepts, theoretical perspectives, and empirical findings. To provide an overview of the applications of psychology.

 

Goals: Arousing the student's intellectual curiosity in students, acquainting them with recent trends in psychology and learning with an applied approach for understanding self & others behavior.

Workshops & Trainings:

  1. Soft Skills Development Programme:

Considering the needs of incorporating Soft Skills in graduates and in order to cope with the requirement of corporate industries the college has been conducting Soft Skill Development Training programme in collaboration with the Savitribai Phule Pune University for the final year students of Arts & Commerce since 2007. The programme was initiated by Former Vice Chancellor, Savitribai Phule Pune University, Dr. Narendra Jadhav and was continued by Shri Sachin Surve, Coordinator, Soft Skills Development Programme, Savitribai Phule Pune University. 

In the academic year 2017-18 the college celebrated its decennial ceremony of the Soft Skills Development Programme in hands of Hon Vice Chancellor, Savitribai Phule Pune University, Prof. Dr. Nitin Karmalkar. The ten days soft skills Development programme consist of sessions on Self Actualization, Communication Skills, Time Management, Body Language, Leadership skills, Discussion skills, Interview techniques, Team work, Transactional Analysis, Emotional Intelligence, PPT Preparation and Social and Business Etiquettes and dining etiquettes. The programme has three sessions a day based on PPT, demonstration, games & activities. The trainees also have to apply to an organization for work and ear certain amount money. All the students are given certificates in the valedictory function of the programme. The best team is given certificated in the Annual prize distribution function of the college.

3. Personality Development Workshop:

Every year the department conducts a One-day workshop on Personality Development for the students. The workshop consists of three sessions. Resource persons guide student on the personal, social and application aspect of personality. Some of the workshops based on interviews of famous personalities of Nashik from social, political, educational and industrial field. The interview is conducted by students and the resource persons also share experiences which have shaped their personality.

4. One Week Course on Counselling:

The department in the year 2016-17 organized a one-week course on counselling for the students of psychology. The course on Introduction of Counseling to the students conducted by Mr. Mangesh Bhanage. 25 students participated in the course and were given certificates at the end of the course.
